WHO WE ARE
Know Jesus Christ.
Grow in Jesus Christ
Show the love of Jesus Christ.
The Sanctuary held it’s first public service on Valentines day of 2010. Our rented location at the time was a Shoreview, MN hotel conference room. In the fall of 2010 we moved to our current location which is just one block east of Lexington Ave and Cnty Rd E. The building that we are now renting is a beautiful office suite that overlooks a scenic marsh (you have to check it out!).
The Sanctuary’s current address is 1030 Cnty Rd E Suite #100, Shoreview, MN 55126.
The Sanctuary is a Pentecostal church and is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International; which has a worldwide constituency of more than 4 million in over 32,000 congregations in 177 countries.
The Sanctuary is comprised of people from many different backgrounds and cultures. From singles to married couples, senior citizens to youth & children, you will discover that every event is represented by those from all walks of life. And while our backgrounds and experiences are diverse we are united by a mutual commitment to Jesus Christ.
Because people and families are important to God they are also important to us. This is why at The Sanctuary we place a focus on building the home after godly principles. One way that this is accomplished is by participating in relevant and interactive classes. The subjects vary from Parenting, Marriage enrichment, Becoming a Man or Woman after God’s own heart, and much more!
Your family is welcome!
We’re genuinely excited about what God is doing locally at The Sanctuary, but we want God to do great things all over the Twin Cities, and around the world. We also want to be a part of what God is also doing elsewhere! Because of this we remain active with other ministries both local and globally with the mission of presenting Jesus as our Savior.
We invite you to come and join us as we Know, Grow, and Show the love of Jesus!
The Sanctuary is founded upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God.
“What church do you go to?” Have you ever been asked this question, or maybe even asked the question yourself to someone else. If those in the early church were ever asked this question they would probably just give us a blank stare and a muted mouth. To them church was not about a building, an address, a mortgage, a steeple, or some of the other modern day things that we oftentimes associate with a church. To them church was not a location but instead it was a gathering of Christ-centered people. While The Sanctuary meets at a building, where most of our events are hosted, we recognize that church is really all about people. The church is mobile by God’s original design and is to be lived out by His followers daily, and not contained within 4 walls marked by a cross or a steeple. It is about people who are brought together by something, or more appropriately, someone, in common.
That someone is Jesus Christ. Now that doesn’t mean that everyone who visits a service at The Sanctuary believes in Jesus Christ or is ready to accept the claims He made. Some do. Others are just checking things out. The fact is, no matter where you are on the journey, you’re welcome at The Sanctuary.
Whether you’re checking things out or are a committed follower of Jesus, at The Sanctuary you’ll find a group of people who are learning to make a difference in the community of Shoreview, Minnesota and the surrounding areas.
Here’s what we mean – we don’t expect people to come to us. Jesus didn’t either. In fact, He went to them. That’s why as we get started, you’ll find people associated with The Sanctuary in the community of Shoreview, helping, serving, and seeking to demonstrate – not just talk about – the love of Jesus Christ.
Will we ever get to the point where we can say we’ve got “serving our community” down pat? Hardly. But it won’t be from a lack of involvement.
We don’t want to just “go” to church. We want to “be” the church.
We believe in the great commission and are endeavoring to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, mercy and compassion.
We believe there is one God, who is Creator & Father of all things and Lord over all creation. That He is an eternal, invisible, omnipresent, almighty Spirit; that He is knowable and understandable and not a mystery. God revealed Himself in the Old Testament to Moses as YHWH (I AM) the self existent one and He is unequal with anyone, indivisible and He is one person. (Isaiah 45:5; Exod 3:14,15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11; Matthew 11:25; Psalm 90:2; 1 Timothy 1:17; Jeremiah 9:23, 23:24; Genesis 17:1; John 4:24; 1 Peter 1:16; Psalm 103:8; Psalm 145:9; Deuteronomy 32:4; 6:4)
We believe JESUS is God’s name and the one name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. In Him (Jesus Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and the name JESUS is the only personal name of God given among men whereby we must be saved. (Matt 28:19, Acts 2:38, 1 Timothy 3:16; Romans 1:3; Matthew 16:16; John 4:42; Colossians 2:9; John 5:43; Hebrews 1:4; Philippians 2:9; Acts 4:12.
We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of sin. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38)
We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. (Acts 2:4)
We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government. (Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11)
We believe the invisible God was manifest (made visible) in flesh as the Man, JESUS of Nazareth, who is the Son of God, the Christ, and our Savior. (Matt 28:19, Acts 2:38, 1 Timothy 3:16; Romans 1:3; Matthew 16:16; John 4:42; Colossians 2:9)
